Very poor treatment of a return customer…

I ordered a door gasket for my daughter's Frigidaire upright freezer from Appliance Zone and they sent the wrong gasket since there was no embedded magnetic strip in it to seal the gasket against the freezer housing which is the norm for upright freezers and refrigerators. Chest freezers do not need the magnetic strip as the weight of the lid will seal the freezer. I double-checked with my local Frigidaire repair shop and he substantiated this. I sent the gasket back to Appliance Zone after getting an authorization from them for the return and I paid $19.33 to send it back via FedEx. I was eventually refunded a partial amount from Appliance Zone after they deducted a "restocking fee" which they said was their policy even though it was their fault that I received the wrong part in the first place…! This is their statement of policy… “Please note that some returns may be subject to up to a 20% restocking fee... Shipping charges are also not refundable unless the error is initially on our end.” Note the "may be charged" so it's discretionary and I paid an additional $19.33 to ship the wrong part back to them which I'm not even asking for reimbursement from them. What possible policy would charge the customer a “restocking” fee for returning an item that was incorrect for the application…? I will never do business with them again and buyer beware of their "customer no-service"...!
