After more than 2 months, Hayward came through and the problem with the defective spa heater that was 1.5 years old was resolved. Hayward agreed to send a replacement part and arrange for a service call and we agreed to pay for the installation of the part. When the service man came to install the part he realized that there was another part broken and he did not have the replacement. (Note: he was the 4th person to try to service the unit - 1st Leslie's, 2nd Pinch a Penny, 3rd Hayward contracted serviceman &;;;;;;;;; the last one was the only one that really looked closely at the unit.) He said he'd confer with his supervisor and get back with us. We now have a replacement unit - a different one than the first because 1) they don't make the unit we had purchased, 2) they told us the other unit was the wrong size for the spa (we purchased that because Leslie's told us that was the size we needed) and 3) Hayward told us that the initial installation was done wrong which contributed to the need for repair (we should have had a bypass installed - we do now). I do appreciate that Hayward stood by their product but it did take many calls and emails to get it corrected. The review below is on the newly installed unit. They scratched and dented the new unit upon installation which is why I'm not giving 5 stars.
