Unsatisfied with bait-and-switch practice

1

Phobio attempted to reduce trade-in value from $420 to $150 due to Apple's quality control issue. I sent in a perfectly working MacBook Pro 15" (mid-2014), which Apple/Phobio originally quote a trade-in value of $420. They reduced the trade-in value to $150 due to "Delaminating or Worn Display Coating". After doing some research, I found that Apple had an extended authorization repair to fix their faulty screen coatings, which included my model, but it seems like the news was never made public. Not only did they attempt to reduce the value dramatically, but they sent me an image of a MacBook screen that looked much worse than I had originally sent in. Im aware that delaminating screen is a common issue with Apples retina screens. However, if Phobio knew that it is a common issue, why was it never addressed in the questionnaire during the initial trade-in process? It feels that Phobio is practicing a bait-and-switch scheme, especially on an issue that stem from Apple's quality control. Coincidentally, the whole shipment and evaluation process took about 2 weeks, just outside Apples 14-day return policy. So Apple and Phobio gets a gain, but some of us are at a loss. User's recommendation: Avoid Apple's Trade-In Partner, Phobio. Sell on eBay instead.
