Unsatisfactory purchase of a car

Dear Sir/Madam

On 29 May 2021, I purchased a motor vehicle from Luna Cars dealership , a Renault Captur, 66KW Turbo Dynamique, JY02SDGP. Unfortunately, on my way from home in Eastern Cape to Free State returning for work , the engine of the vehicle seized on the 24th July 2021 and it was taken to Renault dealership in Queenstown. The car was then diagnosed and it was when I was told that the car was involved in a major accident and unfortunately out of warranty, all this information was music to my ears. The sales representative of Luna Cars dealership assured me and my partner that the vehicle was in fact still under warranty and it had minor bump on the bonnet that had not affected any mechanical functions and a sales representative whom need to be FAIS compliant would give a fair advise. The Queenstown Renault dealership gave me full report of identified problems and I have attached that report in this email.

The action and desired outcome is to return the vehicle to the dealership in question and cancel all relationships. This decision is taken in light with false sale pretence and none disclosure.

This also appears to be an assisted false sale. The dealership said the vehicle was taken for service prior the hand over , however, if the Renault technician in Johannesburg did not pick up all these identified mechanical issues then it raises red flags. Whether they forged the service or work in hand with the technician whom claim have serviced the car.

I would appreciate it if you could organise to with Luna Cars dealership. As I am sure you can appreciate, I rely on my car for transport and apart from the inconvenience, this problem has also caused me to incur additional cost.

I look forward to settling this matter amicably, matter is not satisfactorily resolved by the Motor Industry Ombudsman of South Africa then they recommended that I should take the matter to you.
