United States Coast Guard – Recruitment Review from Bayshore, North Carolina

1

My son has a interest in joining the USCG, he filled in his medical prescreen and it was submitted. He underwent orthoscopic hip surgery 3 years ago to remove an impingement from his bone, thats it and he also had tubes in his ears which fell out 10 years ago. The doc at the Raleigh meps station just reviewed the paperwork and automatically gave him a "DQ". IN HIS OPINION HE THINKS HIS HIP WILL BE A REACURRING ISSUE AND HE STILL THINKS HE HAS TUBES IN HIS EARS. The doc didnt seem to read any of the attached paperwork nor did he give him a hands on physical. The disqualifing factors for the hip is " CAN'T HAVE METAL REPLACEMENT PARTS, AND 90% MOBILITY" MY SON HAS NO METAL AND HE'S GOT 100% MOBILITY. A HANDS ON PHYSICAL COULD PROVE THIS AND IT COULD ALSO PROVE HE DOES NOT HAVE TUBES IN HIS EARS. ALL I'M ASKING IS JUST GIVE HIM A CHANCE " HANDS ON PHYSCAL"!!!! Protocall was not followed in this case.
