Unfair suspension

Hi, my names Giovanni Joseph and I'm a worker at Shaw's in Canton, MA. I was in a bad accident with my girlfriend on Saturday and I ended up not going to work on Saturday or Sunday. I should have called but at the moment the last thing on my mind was calling Shaw's. The day of the accident I contacted a few coworkers and told them to let shaws know I just got into an accident and they did exactly that. Today I called Shaw's and one of the Customer Service Representatives (CSRs) answered named Jessica. I told her I know I work today (Monday) and I'm going to be a little late because I have to find a ride somehow. She said "no you have to show up ON TIME at 4 and I will get rid of your suspension for not showing up on Saturday or Sunday." I told her that I would still be late because there was no way I was making it at exactly 4 o'clock from where I was. I ended up getting to Shaw's a little late and clocked in at 4:30 pm. She called me up to her office and I explained everything that happened about the accident. She honestly did not seem to care and I told her she was being completely unsympathetic. She responded "an I suppose to be sympathetic right now? I have a business to run and it's your responsibility to show up on time. I'm going to send you home tonight and your next shift is on Saturday. You will come in to speak to a union member since there isn't one today." I told her " I just got into an accident and all you care about is me calling in. My leg is hurt but I still managed to come in today." Then I grabbed my things and clocked out because I felt like I was being treated as if I was unhuman and I'm suppose to not have any feelings two days after a horrific car accident. Somehow I managed to come out unscratched, but with a hurt left leg. My girlfriend was bleeding from her head and had all types of cuts/ had to be brought by an ambulance to Milton Deaconess Hospital. Someone just helped me and gave me the number to the employee hotline and connected me to it but unfortunately the hotline said they are experiencing issues right now and to call later.
