Unfair pricing, dishonest practices and misleading info

I got scammed. The past year because I’m on a budget wise billing program direct energy’s price hike and variable rate hit me with $917 in charges! I check my statements for due dates and have a fixed payment amount that auto pays each month. On my settlement month I received a huge bill. We have lived in own home 10 years with minimal energy changes. I even created a spreadsheet with 3 years of bills to prove that our usuage remains the same. Upon further investigation I did notice that my rate skyrocketed! From .32 to .9! Which sent my budgetwise billing program into a tailspin. Upon speaking to direct energy they tell me my contract expired and now For the past year I’ve been on a variable rate and they are just charging me whatever they want. Talk about price gouging. Had I just stayed with my regular provider I would have saved nearly $1000 over be year. Customer service doesn’t care. She admitted to sending a letter and it could have gotten thrown away as junk mail but offered to do nothing to make it right! I’m 2 seconds away with filing a formal complaint to LARA or the BBB
