unethical – possibly illegal practices

2

I opened up a bill that was received by USPS on 5/25/18 with an invoice inside that had a "pay by" date of 5/28/18. The next business day was a holiday so I called this company to see exactly what this service was, and why the late payment notice. That's when red flags went off all over the place. Just like all the other remarks here, we too received a bill with a scanned copy of an update slip sent to an admin 2 years ago. I called Yellow Pages United and started asking questions and they could not even direct me to the site where we supposedly had a website. I work in the legal department and realized immediately this was a bad thing. They have been charging us $396. every six months for the last two years in the hopes that no one would ever question the bill and just send to accounting. I followed the advice of one of the posters on this thread that directed me to their website, and the place to cancel. Who knows is this is the end of that, but my boss (Sr. Litigation Counsel) is looking into the funds we paid to be returned. Should be interesting. There is no free lunch! Read everything before you sign! However, that slip of paper that confirms a phone number is not a legal contract anyway.
