Unacceptable “instruction” Jacksonville FL

1

I started with Roadmaster on 09/16/2019. I came in with my cdl learners permit so by day 2, I was sent out to the training pad to begin learning pti with no instructor. Day 3 we finally had an instructor for pti who is an awesome instructor. First week things went well. By week 2 we began learning backing maneuvers. This is where things began to head south. First instructor I was placed with gave instructions but with no explanation. And from that point we were shuffled between instructors many times, with every instructor telling us a different way to do backing maneuvers. It wasn’t until Friday of the second week of a three week course that we began doing driving on the road. That afternoon I was placed with an instructor who has a penchant for getting his students frustrated WHILE they are behind the wheel of a 70 foot vehicle. I was so upset at one point I nearly pulled over and made him take over because I didn’t feel safe driving. This happened to at least 2 other students while I was there that I know of. One actually was driving unsafe with the instructor and 3 other students in the truck yet the instructor never made him pull over. Instead he let him continue to drive back to the school in this manner. And the school knows how this instructor is but let’s him continue like this. This past Friday I was placed on probation because thanks to less than decent instruction I still hadn’t learned my backing maneuvers. I was placed with a training supervisor that probably is a good instructor when he’s not flirting with a female student. I had my backing maneuvers eval yesterday afternoon and I failed the last maneuver. However I had time for a second eval but the training supervisor decided to eval a student who WAS NOT on a deadline like me instead. So after clocking out at 6 I went to see the school manager (who doesn’t have a cdl by the way) and was told I was being dropped from the school. And this was something that if I hadn’t sought him out myself, they would have waited for me to come in this morning to tell me this. I came home last night and did calculations from my logbook. Out of the last 120 hours of so called training, I only had 22 actual behind the wheel time, 8 of which were on the road. That left 14 actually doing maneuvers and 98 standing on the training pad. Why? Because they overload and overlap classes so you lose a lot of actual time. So now the company that paid for school for me is out thousands of dollars and I have to pay to be tested at a 3rd party site. My advice is don’t waste time and money. Do your research and take heed of the complaints against this school.
