Unable to cancel my auto renewed policy

I do not wish to renew my health insurance policy.I called customer service twice to let them know,still i got a letter stating that my policy has been auto renewed.I have already switched to BCBS for 2019 and DO NOT want to renew my policy.Please cancel my policy with effect from Jan 1 . I would really appreciate if the cancellation process was made a little less painful.I had to hold the line for over an hour on each occasion before I got to speak to someone only to find that my ploicy still hasnt been cancelled.
