Turn around, don’t drown or lease

Unless you are planning on renting the leasing office, keep searching for your new home. This place charges top rent for substandard management and property upkeep. The only attractive and well kept area on the property is the leasing office. There is an option for reserved parking at $25 a month, but no one monitors who is parking in the spaces. Even worse, there is no phone number to call if someone has illegally parked in your space. This place has "valet trash" pick up for the low, low (mandatory) price of $26 a month in addition to your rent. There are two dumpsters in full view of my apartment, so me and my neighbors don't typically use this property money making "add on". Leash law...what's that? None of the property personnel venture out of the leasing office unless they are driving a perspective tenant around in a golf cart. Laundromats...the one next to the office is well kept and clean; the one located at the back of the property is filthy and God help you if you drop a piece of clean laundry on the floor while transferring to the dryer. Despite there being in ground sprinklers throughout the property, only the sprinklers in front of the office are used. There are wilted, dead plants throughout plus a couple of dozen uprooted, fallen trees no one has bothered to address in the 1 year plus tenure at this place. Ask the management or leasing agents a question and the response you receive will be "I'll look into it"...end of story. I believe that a lot of apartment complexes would do much better if they hired older, more mature people to run the property rather than Millennium's (no offense), just not the job market for those just out of their parents house for the first time. During the hurricane last year, all personnel vacated the property and closed the leasing office A FULL DAY BEFORE WE EVER SAW A DROP OF RAIN!. The power was off for almost 24 hours and if you called the office you got a message about in-climate weather, blah, blah, blah. Maintenance: I requested replacement of the peeling, moldy caulk in my bathtub. The result was new caulking placed on top of the old moldy stuff. Seriously? Another maintenance person had to come back to do the job properly. Three requests to fix the toilet handle that sticks in the down position, causing the tank to fill with water for hours until the handle is placed in the correct position. The third request was cancelled until I put my two dogs away (10 lbs each...they hide under the bed when someone comes in) for the "safety" of the maintenance person, who likely wouldn't be able to fix the problem on the fourth try either. I am a former home owner and have repaired two toilets myself by Googling how (I am a female and have never done this before). This morning as I was getting ready for work, the toilet flap stuck again, flooding the entire floor and into the bedroom carpet. I had to use all of my towels plus a bed spread to sop up the water before it leaked into my downstairs neighbors ceiling. I haven't made it to work yet because I'm having to wash all the items soaked with toilet water...at the cleaner laundromat next to the office. Seriously, don't bother even looking into leasing here unless you have a lot of money and patience of a Saint. True stories.
