I purchased a used, "As-Is" 2007 Lexus IS 250 from this dealership on 09/11/15. I live approximately 1 1/2 hour drive from the dealership and had called prior to the visit to ensure I was dealing with a used vehicle with NO serious mechanical issues. The salesman assured me that the pre-stock inspection showed no codes or finding or issues with the vehicle. As such, I drove the distance with the intent to deal and purchase the vehicle. The car appeared solid and the deal was executed. Upon returning home, 48 hours of ownership the airbag SRS light came on and I took my vehicle to both my local mechanic (very knowledgeable and experienced) AND the local Lexus dealership and both determined the code to be B1861 which is an estimated dealership repair of $3,000. Both set of technicians were not convinced that Tri-County Ford was unaware of this issue upon sale. Had an inspection of the vehicle been performed the code would have presented itself and they would know of the issue. Question: Did Tri-County Ford answer my request prior to purchasing dishonestly or did they simply NOT perform an inspection of the vehicle prior to sale? When the SRS (airbag) light is illuminated the ENTIRE airbag system becomes disabled. As such, this is a safety issue with the vehicle. I contacted the dealership and discussed this scenario. To their credit, Manny (Business Manager) informed me to get an estimate (done) and call him back so that we can come to a resolution of this issue. I have called Manny five times and left one voicemail to only NOT receive a return call. DO NOT TRUST ANYTHING THIS DEALERSHIP COMMUNICATES. ENSURE YOU GET ANYTHING STATED VERBALLY IN WRITING.
