I was shopping at the New York & Company store in Columbus, GA at the Peachtree Mall location on Sept. 3, 2017 around 2:00pm. I had found my items and I was ready to check out. I was the next customer in line to check out. Ahead of me were two females in their twenties. They were told that they still had some money left to spend during their transaction when they were checking out. They decided to go back out in the store to see what else it was they were going to buy. Instead of the cashier putting their items to the side or doing something else like taking the next customer while they continued shopping, we had to wait in line for them. I had my seven year old daughter with me. After a few minutes, I asked the cashier if someone else could check us out as we shouldn't have to wait until they continue shopping. That then prompted another cashier to come up to begin to check me out. In the meantime, the two girls in their twenties did not like that I said that and began to tell me that "I can wait"! They talked about me in front of my daughter, the other employees and the other people in the store. They said things like " she's gonna make me drag her [censored] in this store", she's too scared anyway", "Honkey", "she don't want none of this" and plenty more!!! I was embarrassed and disgusted that they were saying these things in front of my daughter. Everyone just stood there and never said a thing! The employees (not once) tried to tell them to stop or call security. They were wanting to fight with me in the store and I knew that I did not want that to happen in front of my child. They finally left the store after saying so many horrible things to me. After they left, one of the employees told my daughter that I handled myself well. All I could do was look at her! None of them did anything to help me! I would like some kind of compensation to help in the acknowledgement that this should not have happened! The employees were wrong for not handling things right initially in allowing the two girls to go back out and shop and have the rest of us wait. I could see if they were running to grab something but they did not even know what else they were getting and for not intervening in some way. I spend a lot of money at New York & Company and I deserve better treatment as one of your loyal customers!
