Treated badly at Marshfield Clinic Dental Rhinelander

1

Went there in Seltember 2017 for an emergency visit for separating and loosening bottom front teeth. That doctor was ok. Had an appt. for October for swelling and loosening upper front teeth and saw a different dentist. After taking x-rays and asking what outcome I would like, I was informed that his opinion was to pull all upper teeth and get dentures! I'm on social security disability and the sliding fee scale and in that case they do whatever is cheapest. Then he starts with the "maybe we can fill some" and kept going back and forth between pulling and filling. Hr also told me all my upper teeth were expected to loosen and fall out in two to three weeks. Here it is seven months later and that has not happened. One of the top front teeth was very loose and he offered no treatment for it. He even told me I could pull it myself! I was supposed to go for a cleaning and debridement when I insisted that they not be pulled but got so discouraged after the way I was treated that I didn't go. Yesterday I had no choice but to make another emergency appointment. I told the dentist about my extremely high anxiety (my disability is depression and anxiety) and it made no difference to him. He wanted to pull that loose tooth plus one two teeth away that wasn't loose. It wasn't attached to the bone anymore so I agreed. Like I said I was extremely anxious and asked about nitrous oxide. He came up with every excuse he could think of why I didn't need it including it would take a week to get approval from billing and I would have to schedule another appointment! As a result it was extremely painful. He put topical anesthetic on but wouldn't wait for it to take effect. Blamed it on the infection. I cried, those needles were so painful. He didn't care. So now I have an awkward gap in my front teeth which had made the depression even worse. This place advertises that they treat patients regardless of ability to pay. They don't tell you that you will be treated like a second class citizen and that their dentists have no compassion for the low income or disabled.
