Hyundai promised that they would clear my title when I sent an electronic payment of $7,000 for the balance of my loan. I had a buyer lined up, and told him Hyundai promised that my title would be cleared within 10 days. I wasn't happy about them waiting 10 days to clear my title after the car was completely paid off, but that is their policy. On the 11th day I called to confirm my title was cleared. For the next 9 days, every other day it took me 2 hours each time to go through the call system, customer service, their boss, finally a further boss who promised they would take care of it. Each one failed until the 21st day. The manager of the entire lien department had to do it. The junior manager claimed that they were having a lot of problems and no one's liens were being removed in a timely manner. I lost the sale tonight as I STILL don't have a title (they released it 21 days after I paid, and NC is mailing it to me and will not issue me a title until it shows up in the mail.)... Now I'm out the selling price until I relist the car and start the sales all over again. Hyundai really screwed me. I took my last 7K out of the bank to pay off the car and am still waiting to get the title. At least I am done with them. I am also out the 16 hours I have been on the phone with them over the 9 days. It was a nightmare and if I didn't constantly try to get it resolved I probably would still be waiting. Don't buy a car from these people. User's recommendation: Stay away from Hyundai and Kia finance (same company).
