Tired of Onan’s

Code 14 basically means the generator is running too fast & frequency is out of range. most common cause is a air leak from the carb, also could be a gasket air leak. Higher hour engines could be a weak governor spring. Check the rear carb butterfly (closest to intake manifold), a rod connects to a slotted pin at top of carb/ this moves the butterfly open & closed. you will find that the rod has worn through the plastic bushing and then wears the metal itself. This causes an air leak, rpm goes up & engine shuts down w/ code 14. After market new carb can be had for $50 vs over $200. Kit also contains hoses & fuel filter conversion so it can be changed w/o removing the generator. Removing genset & installing carb is a JOB & expensive @ dealer! I have owned my very last Onan !! User's recommendation: Buy portable 4500 inverter/got one for$900 delivered.
