According to Toyota SA's bulletin (Ref: 2 2008 8) all Hilux common rail diesel models timing belt and gears must be inspected at every 30 000km severe service. On [protected], Job card no:33874 our Hilux went for its 30000km service at Burgersfort Toyota.Engine number: 2D7404781, Reg: BPD232L. According to the Technical Information System, item 18, it has been inspected BUT only 27 000km further, on 57500Km the timing belt broke and did severe damage to the engine. At Lydenburg Toyota they took fotos of the timing cover and timing cover gasket when they opened the engine and they informed me that there is no evidence of any sealer on the timing cover gasket and it suggests that the inspection done at Burgersfort Toyota was only a paper exercise and the timing cover was never been removed for inspection. Lydenburg Toyota repaired the vehicle and that the claim's department refuse to pay the repairs, I have to pay the R 40195.90 ( inv:10N04778) and sort it out with Burgersfort Toyota, because it was there fault for not inspecting the timing belt in the first place. We went a gave Mr. Solly Tayob the evidence and requested him to sove this matter as soon as possible, but with-out any luck.
