To whom it may concern, On October 5th, 2019 my husband my two adopted children and I arrived at the Legoland waterpark and were scanned in at around 11:30 in the morning. I mention that my children are adopted to draw a moment of reflection on to how important it is for my children to have the best life possible. As season pass holders, we are always excited to escape the heat and indulge our four-year-old, daughter, with what has essentially become her passion, waterparks. Shortly after passing through the gate one of your parks employees started yelling for us to stop. Confused, I did what was asked as did many other park guests since no-one knew who in particular he was yelling at. The employee walked up to me, looked squarely at my breasts, and after a few moments said, “Ok, You can go.”Life has really shown me the ugly side of human nature and I am a survivor of sexual misconduct, but this particular example of sexual harassment is new to me. I felt dirty and feel that this action is totally unacceptable and non-representative of what your parks should be. I was uncomfortable with making a scene, the other park guests started looking at me with judgmental stares. My husband was understandably upset so we decided to lodge a complaint at customer service. At customer service I spoke to a supervisor, with all of the excitement I failed to take his name. I was lost and not thinking straight I could not and still cannot believe this had just happened to me. I explained to him my experience and his response was that they have a dress code and he was probably making sure I was clear to go in. I thought, how simple of a justification, but my tickets had just been scanned and the person that scanned my tickets let me in with no problem. So that explanation made no sense to me whatsoever. The second employee made it a point to stop me and stare at my breasts not my outfit. Of course the day was ruined, I could not stop thinking of how that particular employee had just gotten away with belittling and degrading me and my family. Human nature again showed itself and I knew that after speaking to the supervisor I knew nothing was going to be done. Then I distinctly started to blame myself, I thought to myself what did I do for this to happen but it’s a water park and as soon as I saw other guests dressed in smaller bathing suits I could not see why I was targeted. I was so uncomfortable that I insisted to my husband that we leave. My daughter or any of us for that matter were able to enjoy the activities that were scheduled in celebration that day in the park for Halloween. My children missed out because of the way I was made to feel by one of your employees. I had heard of things like this happening, but for it to happen to me was very surprising. I was with my family, I was dressed conservatively and maybe that is why I was targeted. Perhaps the employee counted on I would not say anything. Perhaps because I am Hispanic he felt he could get away from this type of behavior. Just like the supervisor I don’t know why he acted in such an unprofessional matter, but I too have the right to interpret his grotesque actions in a way I see fit, since I was the victim, a paying customer, and not an annoyance or inconvenience as the supervisor would have me feel. I’m an annual pass holder and i don’t know how I feel about hat right now. I am willing to allow the park one more opportunity to rectify this situation, I have reached out to my brother who is a Lead Victim Advocate of Sexual harassment and Assault on his military installation, I am prepared to seek legal counsel if need be, and would be willing to make this letter public to the media as a last resort. I would appreciate a swift response so that I can bring closure to this misfortunate event, which by the way I did not cause. I reach out to you in a humble manner in the hopes that you sir/ma’am are in a position to do the right thing.Respectfully,Elizabeth Alamo-De ChoudensRespectful Patron
