We have taken a quick look and we have noticed some of the reasons for why the scan has shown different results for the 6 sources of plagiarism.1) Brett Sylvester Matulis. "The economic valuation of nature: A question of justice?" . Ecological Economics, 2014. This source is a book, and something that we don't currently search - this is something that we are working on and continuing to work on. 2) theidrtylie.com - this one was interesting, as we searched this and the website seems to no longer exist, nor is it indexed - this is especially odd seeing as you did the scan yesterday. This one we did flag, in our report it matched to 'scribd'.3) This one is a student paper - Turnitin's database of student papers is different to ours. Additionally, their student database is private, and something no other scanner can check.4) no-redd.com - this one we noticed is not a real match, nor a source of plagiarism as it is a reference. You may want to flag this with your university as they could potentially be flagging a reference as plagiarism. Out of this list, we feel that no-redd is one that we should have found.5) The books.openedition.org reference - for this one, our scanner would only be able to scan half of the sources in the website, as only half of their books are publicly accessible. Most likely, this is what would have caused it to not have been caught.6) Heather M. Yocum. "“It Becomes Scientific…:” Carbon Accounting for REDD+ in Malawi", Human Ecology, 2016 - this is a similiar point to number 4. It seems like your Turnitin scan has flagged your reference - Checker, Melissa as plagiarism. Again, this is a book - as I stated previously we cannot scan.I just thought I would let you know this list so that you would have a better explanation - largely, the differences have come from our different scanning styles - which is different from company to company - with how they scan and what they have access to. The services they provide is you submit an essay and they process the essay and tell you the percentage of phrases in the essay that come from a published source. The service is used by students and faculty to ensure that the work they submit for grading or for publication complies with the most stringent standard and that credit is due in all cases. This morning I submitted a small essay to VIPER because my account with Turnitin was not working and I needed to get an immediate response before submitting an assignment. I paid $ 3.90 to this company to get a "similarity" report, which showed that I had copied only one percent of my essay from external sources. However, when later in the day I submitted the same essay to Turnitin (after my account was reactivated because they were having a software problem) I found that the same essay contained a 26% similarity index, which tells me that the services provided by VIPER are completely and totally worthless. I submitted a request to their management asking for a refund of my $ 3.90 but so far this has not been done. The amount is very small but this company should not continue to operate. It provides very poor service and its software does not do what it advertises and charges for that it will do. A real scam!
