I’ve been out of work for 3 months due to an arm injury, medial epicondylitis. I’m a railroad conductor where I open up steel doors and stairs about 200 times everyday. My arm has built up scar tissue along with 2 tendon tears. At first when you file the claim, they seem very nice and they promptly pay. My doctor thought at first I just had tendinitis, so he put me off for 8 weeks with PT. Around the 6 week, my arm wasn’t getting any better, so my doctor told me to find an active release therapy provider, as they will manually break up the scar tissue that is causing the pain. This type of injury takes months to heal. I went for an Mri 6 weeks in where they found the tears and scar tissue. So, now we’re onto new therapy and coming up on the 8 weeks. The doctor put me out indefinitely to treat the issue. Every single visit and what the doctor has said has been faxed. I’ve now paid hundreds of dollars in copays , I’ve been on top of my rehabilitation because I just want to be healed and be back at work. Once I passed the 8 weeks, almost all communication stopped, no more deposits and no answers. Finally, after 4 more weeks with no pay they tell me that they need more information. My doctor felt so bad that he took his time that day and created a detailed report saying he wants me to continue more treatment for 8 more weeks. Mind you, I’ve been going to appointments 2-3 times a weeks for months. My arm is getting better but slowly! So..no more money, no call backs. Finally, 2 weeks later they call and tell me my claim is denied. They seemed to not like that a chiropractor who specializes in active release therapy was actually helping me. I actually started a new therapy called the Graston technique which is more aggressive and is proven to work. That’s how much I’m trying to get better and be pain free. The rep, Kirk, told me that they didn’t see why I couldn’t work and do PT at the same time! So, I’m supposed to open up steel doors and stairs with severe pain and aggravate my elbow more? Today, they owe me almost $4,000 and they told me my claim cannot be supported and if I want to appeal, I can. They said that they gave me a reasonable time to heal. A nurse actually makes this decision! Can you imagine this? This company is so corrupt, they take your weekly premiums for years and make it so difficult for you to be paid! They have a large file on me with over 30 doctor visits in 3 months, and MRI report, but they still deny you. In closing, I would never expect your claims to be paid from this company regardless . I had a VALID claim, with proven medical records and they still screwed me. They have caused a lot of stress financially and mentally for me and they wait months to even tell you! So, you think your deposits will be made and nothing! Don’t ever give your hard earned money to this evil company. They could care less about you!
