There is a reason

I bought egglettes and they were great 1st and 2nd use. I then went 6 mos. without using them. Today I pulled out the egglettes, and because I thought I knew what I was doing, I did not read the instructions. All but 2 tipped and finally exploded. I decided to try again. I followed the instructions to a T. When I put the eggs in they stood up like soldiers. The reason, I believe, was the old free range eggs I had used the first time. It was the only variable, and I knew the eggs were old. But, why would they explode? I realized that I had left the pot boiling full force the first time. The second time I lowered the flame enough to just maintain a slight rolling boil. Now I understand why it would take so long to hard boil an egg. You cooked them at a lower temperature. I hope this helps with your frustration. I was ready to send my egglettes back, but I'm glad I didn't.
