I am sure they are cheaper than the majors, but you get what you pay for. Late on arrival, zero communication, and when you do communicate they get offended and make your business life miserable. They always deliver late to us as we are one of the furthest from their hub. One would think that they could possibly reverse the cycle at some point? This last time we were told it will make the delivery on time. I scheduled my team to be at a site so I could bring the equipment to them. The driver decided not to make the last call. He never called anyone, R&L never contacted me. I lost 6 labor hours that night due to this. In talking to R&L I demanded to know why. They said that they thought the truck would not fit into our commercial area. We get 16 wheelers in here daily so that did not fly! SO I told them I needed it today that my team was waiting. I said it better be here tomorrow. This was on a Thursday night. By Friday lunch, no shipment. I called my distributor that was shipping the equipment. They told me the shippers said they were supposed to ship next Tuesday. They stated that we told them that. This was never said. I told them I was mad and needed it tomorrow on that Thursday night. But I would have never said Tuesday. I believe that the dispatcher or customer service agent simply took my anger at their weak service and lack of communication as an excuse to jerk me around. But I just lost over $1,400 yesterday and now $800 today due to their terrible services. Additionally, I angered a major client.
