this seems to be an issue with tuners, is there a refund policy other than "in store return"?

》 Yes and no. Good tuner, easy to use. Materials use to make it are suspect. Ball and joint prongs break which seems to be a common problem. ( reviews, friends, retail outlet where I bought it)
