Tactics to Make Me Pay More, Ridiculed Me When I Declined Their Service
2
This happened on 12/18/2018. I am a 63 year old woman, without transportation at this time. Before paying a taxi to bring my big package to the UPS Store, I called them and asked if they mail both USPS and UPS services - to compare rates. They said they do. I had a box weighing 29 pounds. When I got there I asked for the lowest rate (UPS or USPS) to make it to the destination before Christmas. They said "$176 and change" through USPS, and then said it would take 7 to 10 days and won't make it there before Christmas. I couldn't believe it, because I have mailed things from the post office to the same address before and I knew something was not right. I asked for the cheapest rate AGAIN, and he told me the cheapest was the $176 he had quoted me and that it was through USPS. So, I took my package with the intention to call a taxi and bring it to the regular post office. I told him AGAIN that I had no transportation, and the package (to me) was heavy, to check the rates again because I didn't want to carry the package around. Anyway, he smirked and said the rates were still the same. I got my package and started to walk out and I heard him say, "keep walking, eventually you'll get home." And, he and the other employee laughed. I called a taxi, brought my package to the post office, and they charged me $72 and change, with a 3 day delivery, guaranteeing it will get there before Christmas!!! It is NOT that I got confused with the quotes, since I asked him CLEARLY at least three times to check that it was the USPS rates. I'm not sure why they did that. Anyway, this will be the last time I will visit that store. EVER.
