Still No Heat

Like many other people who have posted a review of Cross Country Home Services, I too feel as if I have been taken advantage of. I have had this warranty since 2004, never filed a claim until Oct 2017. After numerous phone calls by my wife and I to get our furnace fixed (Oct 23, 2017 to Dec 28, 2017) we finally got a decision that our furnace needed to be replaced. Every time we called it's at least 45 min on hold, then we we're told that the claim is in research. The repair technician was sent to our house twice once to evaluate the furnace, which he deemed and reported to CCHS needed to be replaced, at this time we paid the $100.00 deductible. The second time was to measure for the replacement furnace. As it was very cold in Maryland at the time the technician offered to get the furnace himself but was told by CCHS that they buy appliances in bulk and that would increase the cost of replacement. After 2 more week and more call backs by us we were told on Dec 28, 2017 that the replacement furnace that they researched for almost 2 months would be $1800.00 not including installation and our coverage was only for $1000.00 dollars. After talking with several Reps and Supervisors they all stated the same thing. We have paid over $6000.00 in monthly pavements into this warranty and all we get when we need our furnace replaced is $1000.00. What a joke! The bottom line is that they will send us a check for $1000.00, but now we have to find a furnace, and a technician to install it. Plus we are already out $100.00 for the first tech. So the check is really only for $900.00 which is half the cost of the furnace they researched. As of Jan 7. 2018 still no check and no heat. I too did not remember signing up for this, which we got thru our mortgage company Midland Mortgage Co. Once we get the check we will be cancelling this *** warranty plan. IF YOU ARE LOOKING FOR A HOME PROTECTION PLAN THIS IS NOT THE ANSWER! ALL THEY DO IS LIE, STALL AND MAKE EMPTY PROMISES. I plan on contacting the BBB and any other consumer protection agency I can find to report these crooks.
