Start a refill order 2 months in advance… if it’s for a transmitter, good luck because you won’t have before your current one expires

Let me start off with, I do prefer Dexcom CGM over the Medtronic CGM. However, here is my story: I contacted Dexcom for a transmitter order, I was told via email (which is proof) from their CS department that my script was still valid and my insurance did not require a preauth. Woo-Hoo right, wrong! I made the mistake of telling them I had changed doctors (provided them with the information) but because of this I apparently needed a new script from my new doc and a manual benefits check with my insurance company. I was NOT told any of this and assumed I was being proactive for when my script did expire. I called 1.5 weeks later asking where my order was and was informed what was happening with my account, notice I said account not transmitter order. In the meantime, they hadn't contacted my new doc for a script encompassing all my Dexcom supplies and they hadn't started the calendar year manual insurance benefit check. However, they had contacted my old doc three separate times but his office was just ignoring the requests because I was no longer a patient. Therefore, instead of reaching out to me so I could give them new doc information AGAIN, my order just sat. I called Dexcom CS because by this time my transmitter was getting close to dying but got nowhere so then I called my new doc office to which I was told they just received the request that same day. Hmmmm??? Long story short, it has been two full weeks and I still have no transmitter. It's Monday and I contacted Dexcom for another status update because unfortunately this morning I woke up with a blood sugar of 39 so I'm assuming those of us that depend on CGM's to survive are just at Dexcom's time mercy. Keep in mind that if I had went to Walgreens for a refill on my insulin, they would fill the order because I have an active valid script on file with a doctors approval...same as what Dexcom had! Advice: start your process earlier and don't update your patient information until your current script is expired.
