Update by user Jun 10, 2020 As of Wednesday June,10th I have not been contacted by anyone from Sandals Resorts. Original review posted by user Jun 06, 2020 Good Evening, I am contacting you about confirmation # 1190****. My original itinerary had us at Grande St Lucian from June 6th- 13th. We were told that Sandals would be accepting reservations starting on June 4th. I was contacted by Sandals on Friday May 29th, 8 days before our arrival that the resort would not be opening due to the extended government shutdown. I completely understood that this was beyond Sandals control. I informed the representative that I thought at this time we would ask for a refund until the travel situation became more stable. I was informed that due to it being less than 14 days prior to arrival there would be a 100% penalty. I informed the agent that I had not canceled, it was being done by Sandals and I had only been given the 8 days notice. I ask to be contacted by a member of management which never happened. We decided to rebook the vacation at the same resort arriving on Aug 8th- 15th. Our June itinerary was purchased for 6559.06. The exact same itinerary for Aug 8th- 15th is 6093.60 for a difference of 465.46. I asked the customer service representative if the difference in price could be applied as a spa or tour credit. Once again I got the exact same non refundable due to less that 14 days prior cancellation. I was the one that had a paid for vacation cancelled by Sandals 8 days prior to my arrival. It is not my fault that it was cancelled 8 days prior to my arrival I had nothing to do with that. The 0-14 day policy has nothing to due with my situation. I am simply asking for the difference in price of 465.46 to be applied as a spa or activity credit that is all. I have stayed at Sandals Grande Antigua previously and was very satisfied. I just feel that this situation is very unusual as the whole travel world is adjusting to the covid-19 situation. This hasn't been handled properly.
