Soles are very slippery and caused a fall today

This is second time I have had this problem. The soles just get polished up and are deadly on carpet stairs and smooth wood floors. You replaced the last pair but with same thing and here we are again. The old brown soles never failed me. Any help please. These shoes are and have been for 60 years or more.
