Sold me a car with a bad engine

1

My friend bought a classic car from Future Classics in the beginning of March and was told by the owner, Nick DeMartino that the engine was just rebuilt 3000 miles ago. My friend asked Nick why the car was running so rough and Nick said the car sat for awhile and needed to be driven again. Nick stated that the car would not have any engine issues for the next 20 years since it was a rebuilt straight six cyliner engine and that he would tune the car up before pickup so it ran more smoothly. I was witness to all of the discussions. Once my friend got the car home it was found that the choke on the carbeurator was broken so he took it to his mechanic. First the mechanic found that the carbeurator needed to be rebuilt, one of the points were broken, the distributor cap was no good, and some other minor issues. Once the rebuilt carbeurator was put onto the car it was still running rough and stalling out so the mechanic found that the 5th cylinder was not firing and there was no compression. It was then found that the 5th cylinder was completely dead proving that the engine was not rebuilt. Nick DeMartino lied about the condition of the engine and misrepresented the vehicle to my friend. Nick was looked to as an subject matter expert and took advantage of my friend not being a mechanic. There were other issues with the vehicle as well. For example, the paint on the car was peeling off and had rust spots so my friend inquired about having it painted. Nick's exact words were, "I have a great bodyshop that can sand off the car and repaint it whatever color you like at a great price. He does great work". After paying for the car Nick told my friend the following Saturday that MAACO would be doing the work. He stated that MAACO would be sanding off the blue paint along with the rust spots before repainting the car black. This was not the case because there is blue paint showing through the black paint. Future Classics had my friends car for a total of four weeks and did not fix the paint or engine issues while it was in their possession. He complained repeatedly through phone calls, emails, and even drove 2 1/2 hours roundtrip four times without Future Classics fixing the issues the way they initially agreed upon before taking the car. Now on top of being overcharged for a car that does not run correctly Future Classics has the nerve to try and bully/threaten him with libel and slander charges for telling his story to the public which is a complete outrage and joke. So I am emailing you to inform you of the practices this company chooses to take. It is completely up to you to do whatever you want with this information but please beware of Future Classics NJ on RT 88 in Lakewood New Jersey. Please do not get taken advantage of like my friend. I am sure some of you may be friends of Nick and his employees and that is fine but do not waste your time replying with hate mail as it will not be read and just deleted. This email is intended for those that may be unaware of the above practices.
