This company slipped the owner into an auto renewing contract without it being disclosed. Then in July of 2016 we called and added a few fax lines. During this conversation we asked if there was any type of contract or if we would be extending any type of contract. We were told no to both implementing to our understanding that we were just adding a few lines for fax machines and that we are under no contract. 2017 had numerous phone issues. We actually stopped using birch around early december and held on to it as a back up until our new service was up and running. Call to cancel a few days ago and they inform me that we are under an annual auto renewing contract that will renew on 1/12/18 so we do not have 30 days to request a cancellation and will be charged over $2000 for early cancellation. I requested a copy of the contract to be emailed to me, this was never received. I call again today to get an update and again try to cancel service and am told that there was a miscommunication and our contract ends on 7/26/2019 so we actually will owe them $4,400 to cancel. I talked to 4 different people and 2 supervisors (Courtney and Susan). Explained that I understand business is business if they want us to pay for 30 days of service that would be fine but we have been with them for over 6 years and should not be in any type of contract as it was told to us in 2016 that we weren't. Apparently when we added the phone line in 2016 they added on a 3 year extension to our contract and renewed it as well as continued the annual auto renewal that we were never aware of. I Called a third time today and just asked to cancel service but they refuse to turn it off until I sign an agreement stating that I agree to pay the $4,400 that they state we will owe for turning off a phone bill. I will be mailing them a certified letter to stop services but I will not be signing another document from their office as they decide to slip things in and will lie to your face about it. Then as they stumble over their own dates and nobody knows what is going on the only thing they can say is sorry we messed up but this is on you. Zero ounce of human decency. I understand why the FCC went after them in 2016 and hope to see it done again. Companies like this should not exist.
