SEMCO Energy is a bunch of crooks
This company has the worst customer service and the shadiest of practices. I received a shut-off notice on a Friday afternoon for a scheduled shut-off the following Monday morning at 8am. After promptly running down to the nearest "Pay Station" for SEMCO Energies, I called them to report my payment (because they don't post such types of payments to your account for days--so you have to report that you made a payment to them), only to discover that it is IMPOSSIBLE to report a payment to them as they only have 'Customer Service Hours' and the ability to report such a payment during a limited time of 8am -5pm Monday through Friday. So now I'm completely screwed after making my full payment and will get shut off, no matter what I do. This company has tried to pull *** like this with me before. They schedule things to make it IMPOSSIBLE for you to pay on time, report your payments, or stop them from coming out to your house (an $11.50 charge every time, plus a possible shut-off and then 're-connect' fees). Electronic payments made through THEIR own automated system gives you a confirmation number. But such payments don't post to your account for SEMCO right away. Instead, you have to call back to their customer service and speak to a representative (during their limited times) and report back to them that you paid them on their own damned system. So, yeah, they completely screwed me by scheduling my shut off for 8am Monday, which is also the very soonest that it is possible to report a payment made days ago. WTF.
