I cancelled my coverage in May 2016 when I started being covered by my employer, but Healthcare.Gov kept my "application" open so that my insurance showed active in January 2017. I was then told I needed to pay for that month of insurance when I was NEVER covered. After submitting multiple "cases" with them nothing is resolved. I just keep getting transferred from department to department with no resolution. My 2017 taxes are now being held up by the IRS because of this ridiculous issue and no one seems to be able to resolve the issue at Healthcare.gov. I would rather not have health insurance than ever have to deal with this horrific company every again. In order for me to file my taxes I am now paying extortion money for health insurance I never had in the first place. INSANE.
