Rock hard potatoes

3 weeks ago I got 5 lbs of potatoes and could barely cut them up. Today I returned 5 lbs of red potatoes (GE brand) because they were rock hard. When you tried to cut them they cracked apart. I took them back and got idaho (GE brand). They are also petrified. I have to now try to cook them as I am trying to fix lunch. User's recommendation: Try to see if Walmart's are any better.
