Ripping off consumers, 1 hard drive at a time

1

I recently bought a security camera system from Amcrest.com including what they advertised as a surveillance grade 4TB Seagate hard drive... See their current ad in the attached pic(s) Note the described specs of 180TB/year workload and the statement that Barracuda drives are ideal for NVR use. This is in clear contradiction of the Seagate specs for model number ST40000DM004, shown here off Seagates own spec page for BarraCuda drives. https://www.seagate.com/www-content/datasheets/pdfs/3-5-barracudaDS1900-11-****US-en_US.pdf. Look on page 2 and you will see that ALL BarraCuda models show a max workload/year of 55TB. That's not even 1/3 the capacity stated on the Amcrest site. If you look up the specs on ACTUAL Seagate recommended surveillance grade drives (called Skyhawk) the workload spec is still not 180TB workload/year as falsely claimed on Amcrest site. When confronted on the falsified specs, they simply deny bait and switch and say all specs are accurate. When I asked for a refund, they claimed that no refund could be offered because it was over 30 days and then only if the product was defective. Even though they are cheating and not actually shipping surveillance grade drives. In fact they do not offer any other drives than the cheapest made Seagate drives, passing them off as surveillance grade ones, which they most definitely not. I guess since the drive has already crashed twice (less than 6 months since purchase). DO NOT BUY FROM AMCREST.COM. Their product is unreliable and their support is by far the worst I have ever experienced. And then to discover they are cheating their customers, just further proves this company is a fraud, selling garbage to unsuspecting victims.
