Revictimization just to save money

1

I worked for Davita in Colorado a year and a half ago, and wound up having to quit suddenly because I was in a violent relationship, my ex had just fractured my wrist making it next to impossible to do my job, and I was worn out, exhausted, and in a dark emotional and mental place and needed to find some way out. I confided in my supervisor about what was going on, but still tried to work (and they insisted I work even though my dominant hand was elbow deep in a cast, making typing both difficult and painful) until I realized I just couldn't do it anymore given the heaviness of the work alongside my own situation and quit (CO is an at will state). Two months ago I applied for unemployment due to the coronavirus, and had to give them all employers back through 2018. When reporting Davita I stated that I quit due to mental illness. Two weeks ago I got a notice from the employment department informing me that Davita was contesting having to pay me unemployment because I didn't give notice, even though they knew my situation. The day of the hearing they had a corporate mouthpiece as a "witness", and I came to find out as well that the same supervisor I had confided in was going to be speaking against me. I was absolutely appalled. The two of them commenced to attack me for not doing more to get myself out of my situation without it impacting my job. The supervisor tried to accuse me of never expressing interest in being transferred to another office, even though this was never once presented to me as even a possibility let alone an option. I was just supposed to know about it and ask. The mouthpiece was very cold, demanding I tell him about any other incidences of violence I'd had, and why I didn't "just move and get a restraining order". By the time the "hearing" was done I was in tears and feeling victimized all over again. Thankfully my therapist appeared as a witness for me and gave the hearing officer great detail about what I was going through at the time, and to my tremendous relief I found out today that the hearing officer found in my favor. I I have never ever been treated so harshly by an employer, and certainly never been forced to relive a personal trauma so they can save money. I'm in the process of figuring out who and how to contact to make my feelings about this whole thing clear, and how disgusting it is that they're willing to retraumatize a domestic violence survivor for the sake of money, but I STRONGLY discourage people from applying for employment with them. They clearly don't care about their employees.
