Returned shoes in store and never received the credit

I went into the store to return an online purchase on 5/18. I was told because I paid with a visa gift card, they could not issue me a credit (not even a store credit which I said I would be fine with). They said they would send the shoes back for me and I would then get a credit from the company. They did give me a hand written return receipt with an exchange/return label on it with the PO number included. I didn't hear back from anyone for almost two weeks so I called the corporate office on 5/31. I was told they issued me a credit to that card (which I told them they could not do because it was a visa gift card) and they acknowledged the credit did not go through after quite a bit of investigating. I was told I had to work it out on my end with Visa. I said I would not be responsible for that as this is an issue on their end, not mine or visas. All I was asking for is a store credit. They have been paid and also have possession of the shoes. I was told the accounting department would have to get back to me. It's been three weeks and I have heard nothing. I called today and was told someone would get back to me. When I said I prefer to hold for a supervisor, I was told I cannot hold. I HAVE to wait for someone to get back to me just like all of the other times I was told someone would get back to me and they didn't. They owe me over $170.00. I would not spend another dime in this store. When and if I get a store credit, I will gift it to someone else because I don't want to support a store who would treat a customer this way. FYI, I have spent thousands in this store over the years because they carry all of my favorite shoes. I even almost worked there when I was much younger. This is very disappointing for me.
