Resolved: Fagor LUX Multi-Cooker, 4 qt. Model

1

Update by user Mar 17, 2018 Fagor supplied a new gasket that works much better, albeit not as well as other mfg. products. Update by user Mar 17, 2018 Fagor made good on the gasket I received yesterday. Today I high pressure cooked for making Pho broth and it did seal. There was some seepage but no hissing and screatching like before. In the interim to receiving the gasket I purchased an Instant Pot Mini Duo Plus 3 qt. At this point this one is the superior product. Update by user Mar 07, 2018 Received an email from customer service and they're going to send a new gasket. Let's see if it works or the design is flawed. Will update after testing. Update by user Mar 04, 2018 3-4-2018 I've found a 'contact us' link on the Fagor America store site and will update as communications with them proceed. Thanks everyone for your patience. Original review posted by user Mar 02, 2018 I've had met expectations with previous Fagor produced kitchen appliances but this one totally blew their reputation. I spent right about $120 US for a multi-cooker and I bought it because it has a simmer function. Ends up the thing won't seal for anything! You go to pressure cook something and you can either listen to it scream and squalor when the heat turns on or worse yet, go what's that smell and find your pressure cooked pot of food all toasted to the bottom of the pot because it just sat there and boiled out all of the water. That's when you need a drill and a brass brush attachment to reclaim the SS pot... I purchased a new pressure valve and another pot and still the same thing. At this point I'm $150 in and it's still failed. I ended up added about 8 sheets of Aluminum Foil, cut to circles, on the bottom of the heating element so it would raise the height of the cooking pot. This kind of works but really! I shouldn't have to engineer the height of this thing to make it work when, theoretically, they've got engineers, or at least a test kitchen, to do that before it goes to market. I'm considering another brand but at that point I'll be $500 in a multi-cooker that's worth half that. Also, the water catcher thing on the side leaks; another place to have to clean... Don't buy this one! Thanks.
