Refusal to exchange product

I purchased a product with a gift card that expired AFTER my purchase. The product arrived in wrong size. I called customer service to inquire about an even exchange for a different size, explaining that the card I had used for purchase had expired and was no longer valid and therefore could not process a refund. I followed the instructions to return, including a note requesting exchange rather than refund. Instead of exchanging the product, they issued a credit to the gift card that is no longer valid. Of course, I cannot access the funds that were refunded to an expired card. And they wont send me the merchandise I returned unless I pay for it again. Absolute rip-off - due to the incompetence of the customer service person I spoke to who was unaware of the procedures for processing exchanges and gave me bad information upon which I relied. .
