Reduced The Net Weight From 59 ounces to 52 ounces!

1

Long time loyal and frequent customer of Simply Orange, but noticed that they reduced the amount of juice in the bottle from 59 to 52 ounces. This is after a reduction from 64 ounces to 59 ounces. These decreases in product amount to a double digit price increase. Why not take it from 59 ounces to 57 ounces? I still would not like that but at 52 ounces - which is not conspicuous except for the tiny net weight amount on the front of the package as required by law - that is by far my tipping point for no longer buying the product. If they are going to do that, then how about a 20% reduction in price? Pepsi/Tropicana and others do the same thing, so now I buy the store brand orange juice in the carton that is 64 ounces and costs $1.79 compared to 52 ounces for over $3.00. The store brand is just as good, and I would not be surprised if Simply Orange actually makes it for them under the store brand name. I will not pay $1-$1.50 more just for a brand name which is comparable to the store brand anyway. Also, Simply Orange tastes diluted to me compared to the robust taste it had in the past. Are they cheapening their ingredients, too? Don't care what they say, it's my taste buds that count. Wouldn't believe a company that tries to trick its own customers, anyway. Always read the net weight before buying anything. My pasta sauce went from 30 ounces to 28, 26, now 24 and some are as low as 22. While not illegal, I find this deceptive, tricky, sneaky and an attempt to cheat the customer for their own gain. Thus, I do not buy these brands and alert others to what they are up to. A real shame. If they just realized it IS about the CUSTOMER and not about tricking them for their money, they would gain loyalty and make that money anyway. I am not buying it - the tricks/cheating, or their products. I strongly suggest you always check the net weight on everything you buy and make sure you are getting your money's worth. Sometimes they reduce the price and put on a "sale" for 10% less, but they are taking 20-30% of the product out of the package, so don't fall for that old trick. There are lots of alternatives. Show these companies you are voting with your money by NOT BUYING their products. Maybe when they see their sales and profits plummet, they'll get a clue, do a "bonus pack" and put back the 20+% they took out in the first place and keep it that way. I'd suggest they actually increase the amount of product they put in for greater value to the customer, but these days that might be too much to ask these "greed is good" mindless, moral-less corporate robots.
