I had checked in at the kiosk upon arrival to the San Diego airport. Printed out my boarding pass which clearly stated seat 7C on Alaska Airlines. The time they had for us to start boarding was 5:35am. They didn’t start boarding until about 6:00am. Our time of departure was scheduled for 6:15am. I got to my seat, 7C as it said on my boarding pass. Another lady was already seated at 7D. Moments later, a woman (Caucasian) questioned the both of us about whether or not we had the right seats. It appears she had her daughter with her. I didn’t bother to answer her because I didn’t feel I needed to. I know that I purchased my tickets and paid for preferred seating next to the window. I realized she called the flight attendant over and the flight attendant asked to see my boarding pass. I showed her and she clearly saw that it clearly states 7C. The seat that I was assigned to and had paid for. The lady that was seated next to me was kind enough to switch her seat and take seat 15B so the white woman and her daughter can be seated together. Clearly, the white woman was still not satisfied and wanted her daughter to sit next to the window. I gave up my seat next to the window and ended up sitting near the aisle seat. This white woman did not even say Thank You to me or the woman who switched seats. She only said Thank You to the flight attendant. First encounter with this white woman was rude and she appeared to have no shame. 2 people of a different race gave up their seats to a rude white woman who didn’t even bother to say thanks. That white woman even said “I don’t know what happened, it says 7E and 15B. These were the seats she and her daughter were assigned to. She was the one who messed up. Not I or the other lady who was already seated. I had just got off a 14 hour flight the day before and I was already tired. I prefer sitting next to the window because I get motion sickness. But the white woman was too ignorant to ask. And the flight attendants were not much help either. It’s upsetting to me that this happened.
