Questionable service

I took my 2010 Honda civic with 45,000 miles for an oil change at Continental Honda. After leaving the dealer my air conditioner stopped working. when I took it to get fixed at an independent mechanic, I was told that the condenser was damaged and asked if I was in an accident. They showed me a big dent in the condenser. The car has never been in a front end collision. I paid to have a new condenser installed but cannot understand how there was damage to this part of my car and only after the oil change did I experience problems. What really happened? Beware of dealer servicing your car!
