Quality Paperback Book Club Forces Sales
The Quality Paperback Book Club seemed great at first, and it can be, if you're not taken in by sales that don't really save you anything, but I was puzzled when I received two books I did not order ($30 + $10 shipping). They have what they call Featured Selections, which is their way of forcing you to pay close attention to their site and your email. If you do not decline, then they charge your credit card as if you ordered the books. Oh, they send you notifications, and I probably received one, but they send two or three emails a week, so I reached the point where I didn't even read them all anymore. They said I could return the books for a refund, but I'll have to pay return postage, and you can bet they will only refund $30. Maybe I'm a sucker for thinking these guys wouldn't try to pull one on me, but I'm an angry sucker. As soon as I get my refund, I'm cancelling my membership. Goodbye, QPB, may your business follow the dodo.
