Update by user Aug 28, 2018 Just an update...I haven't received any response from Buca di Beppo, no apology, no consideration for the hundreds of dollars I've spent at their restaurants...NOTHING! Terrible customer service after publicly embarrassing a customer in front of other customers and employees when I clearly had proof in my hands of the credit balance on my gift card! Original review posted by user Jul 29, 2018 My wife and I were mortified by our treatment at the Buca di Beppo in Pineville, NC on Saturday, July 28 where we have dined many times. On our previous visit (April 25, 2018), I paid our server (Victoria) for our lunch (which came to $24.98) with a $50.00 e-gift card. Victoria provided me with a receipt printed by the restaurant’s POS system clearly indicating I had “Paytronix Rewards Comp Dollars” in the amount of $25.02 remaining on our e-gift card. Fast forward to last night when the bill for our meal came to a little over $19.00; I asked our server (Aaron) whether he could use the $25.02 remaining on the e-gift card to pay for our bill and his tip. He said he could, took the e-gift card and we left. A few minutes later, he caught us on our way to our car and said, “You can’t pay with this (holding our e-gift card).” I tried to explain the situation but he said, “I’ll have to get my manager.” We were asked to wait in the very public reception area where, after a few minutes, the manager confronted us saying, “These (holding our e-gift card) can only be used once.” When I showed him the receipt, printed by his own store’s POS system clearly indicating $25.02 in “comp dollars” remaining, all he could say was, “I don’t know about that; that’s above my pay grade.” I stood my ground and, eventually, the manager agreed to “write off” our bill and buy our server a meal (as his tip) but the damage was done; we had been embarrassed in front of other employees and patrons. To add insult to injury, my attempts to contact Buca di Beppo led to more frustration and dead ends as the "Contact us" link on their website leads to an FAQ page instead of giving customers an opportunity to communicate to corporate management. In the end, I had no recourse except to post here, on social media and to file a complaint with the BBB.
