I am a TRICARE mental health provider. Tricare has Provider Relations staff who do not respond to requests for info or clarification of their complicated billing process. Their supervisors also do not respond, and their supervisors do not respond. Therefore, accepting a Veteran in need of help means you do not know if you will get paid by Tricare. So, most Veterans will want to pay out of pocket. As a Veteran myself I will not charge much. Think about that. A Veteran earns TRICARE coverage, but cannot use it because Tricare has a terrible and dysfunctional Provider Relations department.
