Preakness Dr Homeowners Assn Not Fair

At the September 2008 HOA meeting, the HOA President Lillian Dangerfield, allowed a non-hoa resident to interupt and speak over HOA residents in attendance. The gentleman interuptor acknowledged being an associate of Dangerfield. Dangerfield is an employee of the U.S. Office of Personnel Management and as Chair of the meeting, should have taken control of the situation and not allowed a non-hoa individual participate in such a way. Three residents have filed complaints with the Montgomery County Commission on Common Ownership Communities over unfair and lack of enforcement of architectural and property management rules in the HOA governing documents. Other complaints against the HOA applies to past officers of the HOA Board of Directors where one past president, John Devine, a Lockheed Martin employee, gave a non-hoa builder an easement right of way through an HOA common area for $1.00 and without legal representation or notice given to the community. He signed the WSSC legal instrument giving the right to the builder. Last year, residents down range of the home built by the same builder, complained of stormwater flooding their HOA properties. These types of issues and unconsumer friendliness is one reason why HOA residents are seeking the advocacy help of the Maryland Homeowners Association (MHA). MHA lobbies for consumer protection laws with Maryland Lawmakers and promotes better HOA governance.
