Poor quality and lack of service

In Mid 2017 we purchased GE Café appliances - Fridge, DW, Gas Stove and Microwave and paid a premium for what we thought were quality products which would provide many years of reliable service. After 2 years the dishwasher functioned but required endless trips to the basement to flip the breaker. It finally stopped working completely in August of 2020. Via the retailer, I contacted a GE authorized service tech who inspected the unit but he was unsure of the problem but suggested that the door switch, main board or the wash control panel might be the cause. We tried the door switch which proved not to be the problem (labor and material cost $270) but was the least expensive of the possible fixes. The wash control panel and the main board were potentially $400 fixes each and what guarantee? - None! We could end up spending more than the original dishwasher price and still have a problem. Of further interest is the fact that there are only 2 people living in the house and also, we spend winter months away from home, so the dishwasher use was limited. Additionally, surge protection is installed protecting the whole property. We have had many communications (phone and email) with Consumer Service Department, Sales and the Appliance store. After months of frustration with this issue we returned the unit to the appliance store and bought a new one; the original was scrapped. Subsequently, we were then told by Service and Sales that they wanted another tech to inspect the unit before they would do anything; by then it was too late. At the outset, if the problem could have been solved with a further service call we would have been prepared to pay more, but we might have just wasted more money. A GE Approved Tech couldnt determine the problem very early. Right now we are left with no help at all and weve spent a lot of money on a dishwasher(s). Sales appear to be indifferent. User's recommendation: Forget GE.
