Pentair variable speed pump… no parts available

1

Spent a lot of money on a pump I was told should last 8 to 10 years. We are at year three and the pump quits. Up to that point we had had no problems. Turns out the control pad shorted because water had leaked under the seal. I tried to find the part on-line but found the control pad on a pentair variable speed is not available, unless you want to buy the entire drive unit. The prices for the drive (which includes the pad) run from $ 599.00 to $ 789.00. Why would anyone fix these? Did Pentair decide to make the parts so expensive that you would be forced to buy a new one. Most of these pads start to leak, allowing water to short out the pad.
