overcharged, no response to complaint, horrible service

I recently hired a vehicle in Turkey through CarFlexi. The price seemed a little lower than the other companies, so I used their website to rent a 7-seater vehicle, which was supposed to be a Dacia Lodgy or similar. However, there were so many issues with the vehicle I received and I complained both to the local service provided and the customer service department of CarFlexi who said they would forward my comments to the relevant company and respond within 15 days (which I thought was too long). However, that was 30/05/2019 and although I have sent a few other emails since then, I have not heard anything from them. Below I have pasted some of the points that I raised and the attached photos show some of the problems: First_ the vehicle that was parked in the car park was a Fiat Doblo and not a Dacia Lodgy! The gentleman who met us at the airport said that their OFFICE was 4km outside the airport. I drove behind him and then he stopped at a petrol station and said that the policy is empty to empty (but the confirmation says full to full). So_ I had to pay for the fuel first thing after arrival. This also meant that I returned the car with lots of unused fuel in the tank_ which I had paid for. This is only one of the tactics used by them to rip off their customers. I followed him into what he called their office_ which was an open car park_ which looked like a small orchard or even a house_ with a small building in the middle. By the time we arrived_ it had passed 10:40pm. It was dark and quiet there and being located in the wilderness_ my son_ who is 7 years old_ was greatly scared. I tried to calm him down the whole time. However_ he was right to be terrified. It was all dark and it was so late; and we did not know anywhere! Next_ I was charged for what I had already paid for; my confirmation says that my booking had full insurance and zero excess including wheels_ tyres_ etc. But he kept saying that these items are not covered_ so he charged me 15 Euros for what I had already paid for. Then_ he said that if I was paying by card_ there was a 4% commission that would go to the company and not his office. I have never had to pay commission for paying by card for a car rental. He added all these plus 28 Euros for a car seat (which I will describe shortly). We were tired_ we could not communicate well_ as he did not speak very good English and kept insisting on his own side of the story_ and I was worried about the safety of my family_ including my little daughter. Therefore_ I did not argue too much. I made the payments and received the car. The first car seat that we were given was literally a piece of rubbish; I threw away a much better and cleaner one a month earlier. It was totally covered in dust. When we complained_ he brought us another one_ not much better. It was worn out_ not adjustable_ and very dirty too (I have photos confirming this). By then_ we were so exhausted and nervous that we just wanted to get out of there and reach our hotel. The vehicle_ which was not what we were promised_ was absolutely awful and totally unsafe. It had done over 376_000 km_ the display showed a message saying it had passed service time_ the clutch pedal was so hard that I could hardly change gears. I really felt unsafe in it_ but we had no choice then; we were in the middle of nowhere_ exhausted and nervous. I drove the car to the hotel and the following day_ I sent him a message on Whatsapp explaining the problems and asking for a replacement_ but he said that he was in another city and that the car was serviced and OK (I can send you a screenshot of this exchange). I had a terrible time going around in that car_ as I have a left foot problem and changing gears with that horrible clutch was dreadful and painful. He never contacted me again to say if another car was available_ and from what I collected from his words on the final day_ they only had that 7-seater vehicle as they were going to drive it to Izmir for another rental order. A couple of days before the end of the rental period_ the malfunction light came on too_ and the display constantly showed a message saying that the engine needed attention. I did not drive it any further and didn't even contact that gentleman as I knew his answer beforehand. We had to use public transport in the last couple of days_ while we had rented a car! I just returned the car to him and expressed my dissatisfaction_ to which he responded by saying that he would compensate for it next time (as if I am planning to go to the same city again and again). All in all_ not only am I not happy with the service I have received_ but I would like compensation for the low level of service_ the extra charges I have paid (both for the unusable car seat_ the commission and the extra insurance charge)_ the final days that we used public transport rather than the car itself_ and for all the stress we were inflicted with on our holiday. Every time I drove that car_ I was worried about the safety of my family. It is totally unacceptable_ while I had paid a good amount of money compared with the Turkish currency and the fees over there. I have photos of the car seat and the car display showing the errors and the car mileage. I can also send you a photo of the garage_s business card showing that it is actually a car park and by googling its location_ you can see where it is located. Duration of rental: 15 May-22 May 2019
