Over a barrel!
Because I gave up my home and was working on the road, I planned to have my belongings put into a storage unit in Phoenix, thinking that when the time came for an actual move, I would just have the unit shipped to my new address. After researching several options, I went with Door to Door. Big mistake. I was recently offered a new job cross-country, and contacted Door to Door to find out about having my storage units shipped to my new home. I was told that they do not service the city where I will be moving (a city of over 200,000 people, so not a little burg, BTW), and that the best they could do would be to ship the units to their warehouse in the next major city, 100 miles away, and then I would have to get a truck, empty out the units at the warehouse, load them onto the truck, and transport my belongings to my new home. All the while being charged for a full-price move. Needless to say, I am dismayed, not only at the cost, but at the idea of having to unpack the units that I carefully packed, and reload them somewhere else. I can't do it myself as I have a very bad back, so I will have to hire another moving company to do the work, no doubt at considerable additional expense. When I asked about having another moving company just pick up the crates in Phoenix and transport them to my new location, I was told no, the units (they're just wooden crates) must be emptied out and cannot be transported. I will never, never recommend this company to anyone. Big time ripoff.
