Only “saving” what you have already spent

1

I probably accidentally joined completesave.co.uk after a booking on lastminute.com about a year ago, thinking it was part of lastminute.com's discount offer on next purchase. The £15 monthly fee went without notice as I wasn't checking credit card statement diligently, and I didn't get the prompt that I would normally get from the bank on each transaction. This monthly fee was only mentioned once in the welcome email, buried in the T&C. The so-called saving when you shop from them is in fact your £15 back for your purchase that month. If you don't buy anything your £15 goes to completesave -- figure that's how the website sustains itself and make money! I took a browse before cancelling my membership, the discounst aren't all that awesome (10-20%). You can always buy online from the merchants directly for similar discount without having to pay a monthly fee, and forced to buy to get it back. So I find it a cheat. If I were the merchants I will not allow a direct connection to this site after a consumer buys from me, it's bad for my reputation. Or do the merchants get a kick back too? It is always the consumers that suffer!
